Please use the time before the service for preparation to worship God.
Tax Reminders:
Today is the last Sunday that your offerings will count towards 2007. All offerings received next Sunday, January 6, 2008 will count towards 2008, even if you date your check December 31, 2007.
A federal tax law begun in 2007 states that all CASH contributions that you deduct on your federal tax return must be proven by a receipt from the charity. For example, if you placed a $20 bill in the offering plate or a $5 bill in the Salvation Army bucket, you cannot deduct these on your tax returns unless you received a receipt. A cancelled check is also an appropriate proof of receipt. Please see the Treasurer if you have any questions on these items.
A note from Ben Gordon:
"Dear Congregation @ Calvary OPC,
I am writing to give you all further details about the missions trip to Russia that I am planning to go on. In the month of March, the International Mission Board (IMB) and my college ministry group, Cross Seekers, are sponsoring a mission trip to Russia. The purpose of the trip is to send us to Russia to help fellow believers in Russia reach college students for Christ.
I will be in Novosibirsk, a leading city in the of the Siberia area in central Russia. This city of over a million is a major academic center of Siberia. We will be focusing on apologetics and will receive prior training in this skill before we get to Russia.
If God so leads you, I am asking for financial support in my endeavor. Obviously, undertaking a trip like this is rather expensive so any way that you can help I would appreciate.
Above all, please be praying for me and the other students as we prepare for this trip. I believe there is going to be an email prayer letter sent out by the leader of our trip. I will have it sent to Pastor Fox who can then disseminate it to all of you!
Thank you,
Ben Gordon"
